FLORIDA STATE PARKS
In Fiscal Year 2023-24 the Florida Forest Service prescribed burned over 276,000 acres on State Forest land in Florida. This is the most acres burned by one agency in any one state ever in the history of the United States.
FLORIDA STATE PARK SERVICE
In 1971, the first prescribed fire was conducted at Falling Waters State Park in Florida’s Panhandle. In 2021, the Florida Park Service marks the 50th year of using prescribed fire as a tool to manage natural ecosystems.

In an average year the Florida Forest Service will issue approximately 88,000 authorizations allowing landowners and agencies to prescribe burn over 2.1 million acres.
